Twenty years ago I was in my mid-forties when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was found very early so I had a lumpectomy, radiation, and chemo. I had two full years of infection from my first breast cancer surgery. Five years after my first diagnosis I was diagnosed with uterine and fallopian cancer - more chemo-bald again... Now - thirteen years later, I have another breast cancer (not a re-occurrence but an entirely new cancer). I have already had surgery and 30 radiation treatments and expect to begin chemo next week or the week after at the latest. So - I will be bald for the third time and now am at 4 separate cancers.
I remember it being very hard to find personable, fun, unusual hats to cover my bald chemo head. Being bald was cold! It also made some folks uncomfortable to see my bald head... I know, right? I thought I was pretty gorgeous with or without hair. I started making my own designs after finding a company that will make them based on my designs. Well - let's just say I got carried away and made lots of hats. So many that it occurred to me that there are lots of others out there in the same boat. Plus, I have not been able to work in my former career as a Marketing Consultant due to health reasons for many years... so - this may even help with finances... Couldn't hurt... smile!
If my beanie hats make you smile - GREAT! If my hats make you feel pretty or handsome - GREAT! If my beanie hats cause you to have a big ole' belly laugh - GREAT! Or, if you find a hat that gives you that "at home comfortable" feeling - FABULOUS!
I will use this blog to talk about my own experiences and will share the experiences of many folks who write to me as well. Contact me with the use of the Contact me button at the bottom of the page or email me at email@example.com .
